10.2026 From Forest Glade to Blossom / a collaboration with artist Elvire Soyez / public commission at Södersjukhuset, IVA/MIVA, Stockholm

Throughout the entire sequence, from the balcony and corridor to the reception areas and waiting room, light, colour, and imagery move gently and rhythmically through the spaces. The nature of Årstaviken, with its meadows, flowers, and forest glades, reappears in watercolours, foil window installations, ceiling panels, and Elvire Soyezs stoneware reliefs. Together, these elements create a visual narrative that connects and unifies the rooms.

For staff, the environment can offer brief moments of rest and orientation during the working day. For relatives, the spaces become a place of calm and reassurance amid uncertainty and concern. Light, materials, and colour interact to provide both tranquillity and presence, offering a human and warm counterbalance to the technical hospital environment.

The art is therefore not merely decorative, but an active part of the healing quality of the environment for everyone who spends time here.

For Viola Tricolor, Jeor created detailed images of flower petals, pistils and stems, preferably in a cross-section. He was attracted by Elsa Beskow’s heralded play on proportions throughout her literary canon. In her fairy tales, the forest and plants grow so large that they ultimately surround person, often diminutive in size, in an enchanted, however not completely kind world. In about the same, perhaps ambiguous way we experience the huge flora mural on the wall.

17—19.05.2024 Welcome home - Home is where the heart is. Good to be gone, great to be home.

Erik Jeor was tasked with creating a limited-edition wallpaper. Together with Saskia Neuman Gallery’s founder Saskia Neuman and the wallpaper company Borås Tapeter the artist worked through the possibility of devising the wallpaper as a print. Jeor artist spent a good portion of a year researching and developing the idea, finally settling on painting three new works, taking inspiration from several different wallpaper designers and manufacturers, including William Morris. The three paintings, watercolor on paper (105 x 75 cm with an oak frame) were titled Gullviva - Jungfru Marie Nycklar - Primula veris, 2024, Trädgård, efter Fra Angelico, 2024 and Nyponros - Blommornas Drottning - Rosa Canina, 2024 became the foundation for three wall mounted prints. The wall mounted prints/wallpaper are 12 m2 in size, in an edition of 25 + 3 artist proofs each. Each wall in the booth presentation Welcome Home were clad in one of the limited-edition wallpapers, creating an impression of being in an interior room of a home, albeit a very colorful one.

Canticum - Sigtunastiftelsen
27.04 – 31.05.2024

In the suite of works exhibited at Sigtunastiftelsen, Erik Jeor has allowed himself to be guided by silence, towards a listening of painting. Wandering amidst Stockholm’s natural landscapes during the height of the pandemic gave rise to a new landscape imagery with soft, fresh hues of color. Here, the artist is met by the chastisement and liberation of the nordic seasons, with subtle sounds of ice, water and fauna. The paintings carry the ability to ‘record’ their surroundings and convey both their sound as well as silence. In them, silence becomes more than the absence of sound.

“Does an echo resonate from nature?” “Does joy linger from its melody?”

Colour is vital in the delicate process of dripping and brush strokes. It serves not just a mere tool at the artist's disposal, but is allowed to move freely and establish shapes across the foundation. The motif is heaven and earth. There is a deliberate intent behind the transition across places and states of being. The work explores not only our relationship with nature, but with faith as well. In Erik Jeor's painting, there is a desire to turn towards God and receive, wandering in nature and the act of painting. The landscapes catch the melancholia of our time, while the painting bears witness to a lasting and eternal beauty. Notes of a new song emerge out of deafening silence.

2023

18.09.2023 Commissioned by Vogue Scandinavia to portray the distinctly beautiful four seasons of our Nordic region, Erik Jeor welcomed the opportunity to capture nature in watercolour. Here, we get to know more about the artist in his studio

"I like to paint in a way so it not only allows you to revisit a place, but in the process of painting, a new place arises," Swedish artist Erik Jeor says from his basement studio in Stockholm. "It becomes a dialogue between the two."

The places captured in a series of paintings for Vogue Scandinavia, published in our April-May issue – depicting spring, summer, autumn and winter – are, in Jeor's "are free from exact locations" but certainly take inspiration from scenes in and around Stockholm, like the backdrop of Gisslingö's northern rock formation, the winding forest paths around Stensjön, or the southely outpost of the archipelago, Landsort.

Here, we join Jeor at his studio to get to know the artist, and see a glimpse of his watercolour works coming to life.
